BDN Virtual Conference Overview

The virtual conference will take place 9am to 6:15pm ET on Thursday, October 28 - Saturday, October 30, 2021. Most plenary sessions will feature opening remarks, a keynote presentation followed by a LIVE Q&A session. All sessions will take place using video conferencing capabilities and all sessions will be recorded and made available for viewing to registered conference participants for three months after the conference concludes.

This year’s conference showcases the collective impact of Black excellence in every aspect of society. Scholars, researchers, practitioners, and activists are invited to showcase their individual and collective achievements in their respective disciplines. It will feature panel presentations, workshop sessions, and a poster session. Attendees will be able to follow along with presentation handouts. The virtual poster session will allow you to review posters and provide live feedback to the poster presenters. All questions pertaining to the conference should be directed to the Conference Chair, Deandra Taylor.

Technical Issues

We understand that a virtual setting has its challenges. We suggest you join at least 5 minutes prior to the start time of sessions you want to attend to confirm you don’t have any access issues. If you experience issues at any time, exiting and reentering the live sessions, please feel free to send a message using the chat function on the event page or an email along with a screenshot to dtaylor@blackphdnetwork.com.

Engagement & Social Media

We want this to be as interactive as possible! Ask questions via the live chat, unmute to share your thoughts in a respectful way, give a silent applause, and introduce yourself to others! Whether this is your first BDN conference or 9th, we are glad you are here and want this to be a valuable and memorable experience. We invite you to share your takeaways through social media. Please tag @BlackPhDNetwork on FacebookInstagram or Twitter when posting about the conference and use #BDNVirtual as the hashtag!
